Everyone should feel comfortable in their skin

Healthier skin, for happier people

The skin is the largest organ in the human body. It is a protective barrier, a thermostat, and much more.

Our skin is also how we are seen, so changes to its function or appearance can have a profound impact to our happiness as well as our health.

That’s why Merz Therapeutics is proud to continue offering help to people with certain skin and hair conditions, alongside our core neurology portfolio.

Helping people feel comfortable in their skin is a long-standing commitment. Our portfolio has served people for over fifty years, and we remain fully committed to it today.

Scarring from acne, surgery or injury, can cause tension, redness and itching in the affected areas. It can also affect our mental wellbeing, if we are not comfortable with the appearance we present to the world. Scar prevention and management can be an important step to improve physical and mental health for the scarred.

Scar tissue is different from regular skin; it lacks elasticity, is often a different color, and contains fewer hair follicles, sebum and sweat glands. Whether a visible scar arises from a wound, and to what extent, depends on the type of tissue damage, the healing process, and the health, ethnicity and age of the individual.

In most cases, scar tissue treatment can reduce or prevent the effect of scarring, offering improvements to the appearance and elasticity of our skin.

CONTRACTUBEX®

Contractubex® scar gel has been helping people manage their scarring for 50 years, with clinically-proven effectiveness. Its active ingredients penetrate the scar tissue to reduce scar formation from the inside.

Stress, dietary imbalance, hormonal changes or illness can all cause hair loss. Sometimes hair loss simply runs in the family.

Hair loss is rarely a clinical emergency, but because hair is a big part of our appearance, it can be truly distressing.

Diffuse hair loss is caused by a reduction in the nutrients required for hair growth (for example from emotional stress, infections, or after pregnancy). It is more common in women, but affects men too.

It can be counteracted or even stopped with external therapies that provide affected hair roots with the nutrients they need to recover.
